I can live with this

Eating More Chocolate May Be Better for Your Health

CHICAGO — Leave it to the Dutch to help demonstrate the health benefits of chocolate. A study of older men in The Netherlands, known for its luscious chocolate, indicated those who ate the equivalent of one-third of a chocolate bar every day had lower blood pressure and a reduced risk of death.

I may have left off the part of the article that says eating to much chocolate will make you fat (in my case fatter) and is a health risk. I believe I will take this article like a lot of self help books. Just grab a few nuggets of wisdom and toss the rest away.

America is sticking its head in the sand. We worry about who is going to win American idol, we have young men and women dying everyday. We have the enemy living among us and we worry about Idol. . Follow the email conversation between my sister and I

Sister:Tell me you watched American Idol.......

Me: NOPE

Sister: you make me nuts

Me: Why, just because I don’t find a talent contest interesting

Sister: Its the most popular show on TV and I wanted to compare notes with you.....just like with 24 but it is way too late for you to watch that

Me: We could compare notes on the incursions by the Mexican military along the southern border. We could compare notes on the out of control illegal emigration and the devastating effect on your way of life. We could compare notes on the terrorist arrested in Ohio yesterday and wonder how many are in surrounding neighborhoods, or we could watch Idol.
Sister: We do agree! Idol it is

Now I love my sister very much and we do get along quite well. But I find her attitude to be par for the course with much of America. It worries me that nobody cares about the fate of our country

Great weekend

The bride and I along with another couple went to Ceder City in southern Utah this weekend.  Stayed at a wonderful Bed & Breakfast (The Big Yellow Inn). You walked in and it appeared as you walked back in time. It seemd that I had walked into the 1890's. I was set back when I discovered that the inn was built in 1999. Most of the d furnishings or at least lot of them where antiques, but the house was not. But it was built as if it were.  The host and hostess were wonderful folks  and put on a great breakfast.  Just a great weekend of fellowship and relaxing.

Now here is an idea; if the United States were to take all the money (Billions) that we give in aid to foreign countries that hate us anyway and redirect it to developing alternative fuel ie: bio diesel, ethanol, and such. I believe that we could energy independent in a short period of time. That these billions of dollars and build the infrastructure to deliver bio diesel to the country. Delivering ethanol to green burning cars, really develop battery powered cars and bikes. This would not be that hard to do all it takes is money and we give away a bunch of it every year. We all could push this to our elected representatives and remind them that they are to represent us we could have a much better country. We could develop the technology get America squared away then give the technology to the countries that hate us anyway. Anyway it is something to think about.

I found this artical and it is a good read

We need to learn a new word: dhimmitude. I've written about dhimmitude periodically, lo, these many years since September 11, but it takes time to sink in. Dhimmitude is the coinage of a brilliant historian, Bat Ye'or, whose pioneering studies of the dhimmi, populations of Jews and Christians vanquished by Islamic jihad, have led her to conclude that a common culture has existed through the centuries among the varied dhimmi populations. From Egypt and Palestine to Iraq and Syria, from Morocco and Algeria to Spain, Sicily and Greece, from Armenia and the Balkans to the Caucasus: Wherever Islam conquered, surrendering dhimmi, known to Muslims as "people of the book [the Bible]," were tolerated, allowed to practice their religion, but at a dehumanizing cost. There were literal taxes (jizya) to be paid; these bought the dhimmi the right to remain non-Muslim, the price not of religious freedom, but of religious identity. Freedom was lost, sorely circumscribed by a body of Islamic law (sharia) designed to subjugate, denigrate and humiliate the dhimmi. The resulting culture of self-abnegation, self-censorship and fear shared by far-flung dhimmi is the basis of dhimmitude. The extremely distressing but highly significant fact is, dhimmitude doesn't only exist in lands where Islamic law rules. This is the lesson of Cartoon Rage 2006, a cultural nuke set off by an Islamic chain reaction to those 12 cartoons of Muhammad appearing in a Danish newspaper. We have watched the Muslim meltdown with shocked attention, but there is little recognition that its poisonous fallout is fear. Fear in the State Department, which, like Islam, called the cartoons unacceptable. Fear in Whitehall, which did the same. Fear in the Vatican, which did the same. And fear in the media, which have failed, with few, few exceptions, to reprint or show the images. With only a small roll of brave journals, mainly in Europe, to salute, we have seen the proud Western tradition of a free press bow its head and submit to an Islamic law against depictions of Muhammad. That's dhimmitude. Not that we admit it: We dress up our capitulation in fancy talk of "tolerance," "responsibility" and "sensitivity." We even congratulate ourselves for having the "editorial judgment" to make "pluralism" possible. "Readers were well served... without publishing the cartoons," said a Wall Street Journal spokesman. "CNN has chosen to not show the cartoons in respect for Islam," reported the cable network. On behalf of the BBC, which did show some of the cartoons on the air, a news editor subsequently apologized, adding: "We've taken a decision not to go further... in order not to gratuitously offend the significant number" of Muslim viewers worldwide. Left unmentioned is the understanding (editorial judgement?) that "gratuitous offense" leads to gratuitous violence. Hence, fear — not the inspiration of tolerance but of capitulation — and a condition of dhimmitude. How far does it go? Worth noting, for example, is that on the BBC Web site, a religion page about Islam presents the angels and revelations of Islamic belief as historical fact, rather than spiritual conjecture (as is the case with its Christianity Web page); plus, it follows every mention of Mohammed with "(pbuh)," which means "peace be upon him"—"as if," writes Will Wyatt, former BBC chief executive, in a letter to the Times of London, "the corporation itself were Muslim." Is it? Are we? These questions may not seem so outlandish if we assess the extent to which encroaching sharia has already changed the Western way. Calling these cartoons "unacceptable," and censoring ourselves "in respect" to Islam brings the West into compliance with a central statute of sharia. As Jyllands-Posten's Flemming Rose has noted, that's not respect, that's submission. And if that's not dhimmitude, what is? The publication of the Muhammad cartoons solicited by Denmark's Jyllands-Posten was an act of anti-dhimmitude. Since no Danish artist would dare illustrate a PC children's book about Muhammad for fear of Islamic law (and Islamic violence), the newspaper boldly set out to reassert the rule of (non-Islamic) Danish law. It's as simple as that. And as vital. The cartoons ran to establish — or re-establish — Denmark as bastion of Western-style liberty. But in trying to set up a force field against encroaching sharia, Jyllands-Posten and the Danes have showed us that no single bastion of Western liberty can stand alone. So, how do you say solidarity in Danish? If we don't find out now, our future is more dhimmitude.

Movie review

Fire wall

Intense, dead people, violence, and some bad words, I was on the edge of my seat for a good part of the movie. Was it the best movie I have ever seen? No, but it was good and well worth the money. The ending left me hanging a bit. But go see it you should enjoy

More of my thoughts on this subject

I wonder how long it will take until we have the Muslims in America flare up as they are in Europe. There is not a doubt in my mind that someone over here will do something to set these folks off. It is only a matter time. My question is how many of you are ready and willing to defend your families, homes, and country? Are we going to react like Europe and just sit back watching as they burn the country down? This is scary stuff, have you seen the protesters in the UK carrying signs “Kill all those who insult Islam”, Behead those who insult Islam” These folks are serious. What gets me if you listen to Islamic leaders they justify the actions that are on going in Europe by saying that Islam does not get respect and these people have been offended. . So if you insult their prophet or their book or any part of their faith they are justified to do anything they want and we should understand. They have left their third world countries with few rights and have gone through out Europe and the United States with almost every freedom they could hope for and they do what? Stand in the streets preaching hate (this happens in Europe). Hoping to establish an Islamic state through out the world, not sure if it will be Sunni or Shiite, but whatever it is they will spend the next thousand years killing the others.

This whole deal is over some cartoons which is perceived as an insult their prophet, a cartoon, a few line of ink on paper, but when atrocities are committed (beheading, throats slit, rapes) on non Muslims they set back and keep quite. It is no big deal to them. Wake up America, we are at war.

http://joshuapundit.blogspot.com/

I found this blog and I believe it is worth a read. He has figured out that we are at war with Islam and we had better wake up. If you look at the recent events in the world you will see that the world is a Muslim tinder box. Any perceived slight against Islam ignites riots, beatings, beheading. Muslims demand that we be tolerant of their beliefs, But go to Saudi Arabia
and see how tolerant they are to Christains, and Jews. This is going to blow into a full scale war, fighting in the streets. It is only a matter of time.

I really have to learn that I am not as tough as I use to be. I’ll be 53 at the end of the month; I have had a heart attack, and just a little over 4 months ago I was in the hospital for 5 days with blood clots in my lungs. I am no longer allowed to lift weights and I have gone down hill, I will admit that. But sometimes things happen. I was in Salt Lake City this afternoon having lunch with my bride, oldest son and daughter. Nice restaurant having a quite lunch. A group of 6 young men (in their mid to late 20’s) came in and sat at the table next to us. They were very loud and obnoxious. I mean very loud. We could not hear ourselves talk. One young fellow was not only load but was using vulgar language. He was saying the F word in a load voice. Now this is a family restaurant and my wife and daughter are with me. I don’t say anything at first, I do look over at the table and one of the men says to his buddy something along the line as I am disturbed by his language. He looks over and says “he does not give an F”. Just about this time I get upset and I make a comment about maybe he should care. He tells me to mind my own business. About this time I jump up throw my chop sticks and start towards him. My wife is yelling and grabbing at me, my daughter is yelling. I think my son is waiting to see if I am still tough. We continue our conversation in an elevated tone. None of his buddies seem to be come to his aid and he becomes very quite. Which is all I wanted in the first place, I sit back down the rest of the restaurant (the place is packed) goes back to eating. I am severely reprimanded by my wife and daughter on the way back to the car. Maybe not severely but I was talked to. But I feel part of the problems with America today is no one stands up for common decency anymore. We have punks like this young fellow that figures there is no consequences and they can do as they want. Nobody give a good butt kicking when it is deserved. Who knows I may have gotten the butt kicking but I just get fed up with punks like this. I have replayed this in my mind a few times and I should have gotten the manager to handle it. I don’t know, I hope I will grow out of this someday……………….sigh
